Minnesota Vikings 2020 schedule release: Games, dates and times

Minnesota Vikings, NFL Schedule

The Minnesota Vikings schedule is pretty tough with the NFC North opponents on it but can they hold their own vs. the rest of the NFL?

The NFC North was won by the Green Bay Packers last season but the division did send two teams to the postseason. The Minnesota Vikings returned to the playoffs in year two of the Kirk Cousins era and even scored an impressive road win, knocking off the 13-3 New Orleans Saints in the Wild Card round.

That win would be the high-water mark of the Vikings’ season, however, as Minnesota was dominated by the San Francisco 49ers in a Divisional Round matchup. The 49ers made it a point to take away Dalvin Cook, who had been the bread-and-butter of the Vikings’ offense, which completely stifled Minnesota’s attack.

Salary cap considerations have forced the Vikings to begin a reloading phase which has seen key defenders like Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes and Everson Griffen depart in free agency. Minnesota also dealt wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills for a haul of four draft picks, including Buffalo’s first-rounder this season.

Those picks should prove to be helpful in the Vikings’ efforts to reload around Cousins, who signed a contract extension this offseason. Cousins did play much better when the Vikings weren’t asking him to carry the load in 2019, a trend that Minnesota will look to repeat this season.

The schedule should get a bit tricker for the Vikings this season, who have to deal with both South divisions in 2020. Matchups with the Packers, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Dallas Cowboys should generate a ton of attention nationally this season.

Once the full 2020 NFL schedule is released this post will be updated immediately with game dates, times, and broadcast information. In the meantime, let’s take a look at the home and road opponents for the Vikings in 2020.
