The Philadelphia Eagles are preparing for a dog fight against the Dallas Cowboys to win the NFC East. They could use some free agents to push them over the top.

The Philadelphia Eagles surprised everyone when they took Jalen Hurts in the second round of the NFL Draft. That’s a move we see from teams who are looking to strike gold under center, and the Eagles already gave a $100 million contract to Carson Wentz, a former second-overall pick.

One reason this was a curious move is the Eagles still have some holes to fill despite filling their biggest hole, wide receiver, in the first round of the draft.

Luckily for the Eagles, there are still some really good players available in free agency. It’s likely because of the pandemic, but there are options at just about every position. The Eagles have an extremely talented roster, but something tells us they will go through some changes before Week 1, whenever that happens.

More than anything, the Eagles would like options.

The Eagles are one of those sneaky teams that could prove to be a Super Bowl contender if the right things happen. They can control their destiny a little more if they are able to put some more talent on their depth chart.

These free agents would be great additions to their training camp.

Lamar Miller

There are some options for the Philadelphia Eagles at running back. The free agent market still has some top names like Devonta Freeman and Carlos Hyde, but when it comes to expectations, it seems like Lamar Miller might be a perfect fit.

Lamar Miller missed all of last season after injuring his knee in preseason. On one hand, he’s a 29-year-old running back that is coming off major knee surgery. On the other hand, when the season starts, he will be one full year removed from the injury, and will likely be fully healthy.

Miller has had an up-and-down career, but he’s been pretty consistently productive. He only has two 1,000 yard seasons, but he’s proven he can come in and get you those four yards per carry. He’s not flashy, despite once producing a 97-yard run, but he will get you those yards you need.

The Eagles currently have Miles Sanders, Corey Clement and Boston Scott on the roster. They are all fine options, and Sanders was really good down the stretch, but the numbers don’t show he’s someone to go all in on.

Miller gives them depth at the running back position, which is crucial in today’s NFL. This isn’t the years of LaDainian Tomlinson, or even Adrian Peterson taking all of the runs. Now, you need three-four options who can all get you yards.

Miller is older, but he brings a nice veteran presence to a running back group that could use it. If he can come back from his knee injury as good as ever, then he still has plenty of tread on the tires. Some Eagles fans might be eager to see LeSean McCoy back in Philly, but Miller is a much better option.
