NFL quarterback power rankings: AFC West edition

Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, NFL Power Rankings, Oakland Raiders

The AFC West once had some of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Now, with younger additions, here are the quarterback power rankings for this division.

Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, Alex Smith and Derek Carr. For a few seasons, all three of these signal callers called the AFC West home at the same time.

Manning was breaking records and winning Super Bowls with the Broncos, Rivers was etching his name into the history books for the Chargers franchise, Smith was chasing that elusive playoff win for the Chiefs, and Carr was just starting his NFL career in Oakland.

Now, much has changed. Rivers has left for the Colts, Manning retired after the 2015 season, and Patrick Mahomes took Smith’s job in Kansas City. Carr still, for the time being, remains with the Raiders as the franchise kicks of it’s new journey in Las Vegas.

Second-year quarterback Drew Lock has the starting job in Denver, while rookie Justin Herbert and veteran Tyrod Taylor have a summer to battle for the starter’s job in Los Angeles.
