Is Rob Gronkowski taking his talents to the WWE?

NFL, WWE

According to the latest reports, former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is finalizing a deal with the WWE.

After months of pining, Rob Gronkowski is finally making his long-awaited comeback.

Unfortunately, it won’t be in the NFl.

As Wrestling Sheet‘s Ryan Satin first reported Tuesday night, the three-time Super Bowl champion and four-time All-Pro selection is close to finalizing a deal with the WWE:

According to Satin, it’s currently unclear what capacity Gronk will be used in, but his first appearance could be as soon as March 20 for Friday Night SmackDown in New Orleans.

This wouldn’t be Gronkowski’s first time participating in a WWE event, as he made an appearance at WrestleMania 33 in 2017. He helped Mojo Rawley defeat Jinder Mahal in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal after Mahal taunted the star tight end, who was sitting ringside for the event.

Gronkowski has said he’s wanted to participate in more WWE events since then, and was photographed with Rawley, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon during Super Bowl weekend.

Just over a year ago, Gronk announced his retirement from the NFL on Instagram. New England Patriots fans pined for the current FOX Sports analyst to make his return to the football pitch, but that comeback never materialized. He finished his career with 521 receptions, 7,861 yards and 79 touchdown receptions.

As a future Hall-of-Famer and five-time Pro-Bowler, it’s a bummer we won’t be getting the return football fans have been anticipating and hoping for, but any Rob Gronkowski we can get on our TV screens and Twitter feeds is a good thin.

As one of the more fun-loving guys to ever come through the NFL, it should be a real treat to see Rob Gronkowski in another WWE event, no matter what capacity he’s used in.
