Twitter reactions are great for A.J. Bouye trade to Broncos

NFL News

NFL Twitter has opinions on the A.J. Bouye trade from the Jacksonville Jaguars to the Denver Broncos, and we rounded them up.

A.J. Bouye is going to the Denver Broncos for a fourth-round pick.

Granted, the Broncos have to wait until the NFL’s new league year come March 18 for their trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars to become official, but it’s a significant move nonetheless.

Denver is bringing in a talented 28-year-old cornerback with two years left on his deal at $13.5 million per year (and no remaining guaranteed money). On Twitter, the masses reacted to the deal, largely praising the Broncos while talking bad about the perpetually-rebuilding Jaguars.

It’s tough not to like this trade for the Broncos. Bouye has a Pro Bowl to his name (albeit from 2017) and still has good years ahead of him. Now, he gets to join forces with head coach Vic Fangio, who is one of the best defensive minds in the game.

Denver is trying to build another top-flight secondary, a smart move considering Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are in the AFC West. With Bouye, the Broncos at least have one corner capable of dealing with elite receivers. Now the chore of finding another begins as Chris Harris Jr. is likely gone in free agency.

The Broncos still have $56.5 million of cap space to use this offseason. Considering quarterback Drew Lock is signed for three more years on a rookie deal, general manager John Elway has the latitude to spend lavishly around his new toy in the defensive backfield.
