The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a ton of cap space and a lot of holes to fill. What direction could they go in free agency this offseason?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one team that is going to look as different as any team in the entire league once the 2020-21 season starts. They have about $89 million in cap space, but they are going to need a lot of that space to figure out all the players that are either re-signing or leaving in free agency. Some of the names that are in the last year of their contract include Jameis Winston, Jason Pierre-Paul, Ndamukong Suh, Shaq Barrett, Breshad Perriman and Peyton Barber.

That’s a lot of talent to lose in one offseason, so the Bucs won’t let all of them go. Of course, the most expensive position to figure out is the quarterback position. With Winston going into his contract year, the Bucs need to figure out if they want to continue giving him a chance with the most talented receiving core in the NFL. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are getting plenty of work, but they also spend too much time on the sidelines because of bad turnovers.

That’s the big cloud over the Bucs offseason, but losing most of the front seven, the team’s strength, is also stressful. The only players still under contract are Vita Vea, Devin White and Lavonte David. The rest have to get replaced, and their internal options aren’t the best.

The Bucs may have the third-most cap space to play with in the league, but they have one of the most interesting situations in the league. They are a clean slate for the most part, with some really talented players in between. How can they use free agency to finally push themselves into playoff contention, especially with two of the three NFC South opponents in serious flux?
