Singer and Saints fanatic Jimmy Buffett kicked off the NFC Championship Game in New Orleans with a pretty epic mic drop.
NFL fans are set for an excellent day of football on Sunday, with both the NFC and AFC Championship games taking place to decide which teams will play in Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta. And thanks to legendary singer Jimmy Buffett, the day got off to a pretty hilarious start.
Just ahead of the NFC Championship Game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Buffett sang the national anthem as the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints prepared for kickoff. After Buffett was finished, he held up his microphone hand as a gesture to the crowd, and then proceeded to drop the microphone before walking off.
As you can see above, it was a pretty sensational way for Buffett to conclude his performance of the “Star Spangled Banner.” As to be expected, Buffett — a diehard Saints fan — was decked out in Saints gear while performing the anthem, including a gold hat that he removed while singing.
It’s possible that Buffett’s epic mic drop brought good luck to his favorite team, as New Orleans quickly rushed out to a 13-0 lead before the first quarter even wrapped up. Should the Saints move on, Buffett might just have to perform another mic drop in Atlanta in two weeks.
