2019 NFL Draft order entering Week 17: Cardinals lead Raiders for No. 1 pick

NFL Draft

With the season drawing to a close, the 2019 NFL Draft order is rounding out. The Lions are now in the top 5, while the Redskins sit at No. 16.

The Nick Bosa sweepstakes are nearly here.

With Week 16 in the books and the final NFL regular season weekend approaching, teams will either position themselves to win or lose to make sure their desired draft spot. With Nick Bosa slated to be the top pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Cardinals, Raiders, Jets, and the Bills will try to position themselves to take the Ohio State product.

The Cardinals are positioned to have the best chance at the first pick. Their 3-12 record has them holding steady at the pole position. For the fifth through the ninth spot, the Lions, Buccaneers, Bills, Giants and the Jaguars are tied with 5-10 records. The Jaguars possibly did more harm than good in their win versus the Dolphins Sunday. With a loss, they would have been fifth in the draft order.

The Cleveland Browns bet on Baker Mayfield in this past year’s NFL Draft have positioned the Browns to walk into Week 17 with the 17th pick. The dismissal of Hue Jackson and Todd Haley have opened the doors to letting Mayfield operate freely.

With Mayfield’s success and their personnel intact, their position will allow them to draft smartly. Having a top pick usually correlates to teams drafting a talented player as an accessory, not as a necessity.
