Browns, Dez Bryant don’t come to deal during visit

Cleveland Browns, NFL Offseason

Arguably the biggest name still searching for an employer, Dez Bryant left his visit with the Cleveland Browns without signing a contract.

Back in April, the Dallas Cowboys released one of their longest-tenured members in Dez Bryant. Over his eight seasons with the Cowboys, Bryant established himself as one of the league’s elite pass catchers. However, with the youth movement and the team moving in a new direction, Bryant found himself on the outside looking in.

So far this offseason, we have seen a lot of talk on Twitter but no real action with regards to Bryant finding a new home. He took a step in the right direction after meeting with the Browns on Friday, but the two sides were unable to strike a deal while Bryant was at the facility.

While this is not uncommon, it would obviously have been the best case scenario for Bryant to put pen to paper while still at the facility.

If Bryant were to sign with the Browns, he would be joining a pretty stacked wide receivers unit. The Browns are getting Josh Gordon back, they traded for Jarvis Landry, and they also drafted a promising rookie in Antonio Callaway. By no means would Bryant’s spot on the depth chart be secure, he would have to compete and prove he still has it.

The uncertainty is there, after all, the Browns went 0-16 last season. However, this new-look team however has some potential to make some noise.

Bryant could be a huge veteran acquisition for a team with a lot of young talent. The reports of him being a bad locker room guy are concerning, but there is no debating that Bryant could help lead and simply teach younger guys how to adapt to the NFL.
