Cleveland Browns Hard Knocks, episode 2: 5 things we learned

Cleveland Browns

We learned a lot from Week 1 of Hard Knocks with the Cleveland Browns. The team’s first preseason game helped teach us much more.

In episode 1 of Hard Knocks with the Cleveland Browns, we learned a lot. From Carl Nassib’s financial acumen, to more on the Quarterback RV, to Hue Jackson’s strength, there was a lot going on in Cleveland.

Leading up to the team’s first preseason game against the New York Giants, we learned a lot more. This time, some new characters enter the show.

Corey Coleman is a little delusional

Over the past year, 2016 first round pick Corey Coleman has fallen out of favor inside the Cleveland Browns organization. Posting just 718 yards and five touchdowns in 19 games over the past two seasons, Coleman wasn’t living up to a first round standard.

Coleman was struggling in camp, as demonstrated by the Hard Knocks crew. Offensive coordinator Todd Haley was in Coleman’s ear, telling him to stay in routes longer and, essentially, to compete harder.

Coleman was listed as a second team wide receiver, in which he was not pleased. He went into head coach Hue Jackson’s office and asked why he was placed on the second team. Coleman then followed that up asking why the Browns don’t just trade him if they aren’t going to play him.

They did just that, sending Coleman to the Buffalo Bills for a 2020 seventh-round pick.

With Jarvis Landry now in town alongside Josh Gordon, Cleveland could afford to cut its losses on Coleman and see if a better receiver comes along to fill his role.

Coleman has shown to have NFL talent, and perhaps the fit just wasn’t right. But for Coleman to not see that he wasn’t worthy of a first team spot in camp shows that he is a little delusional.
