Dez Bryant not answering Browns phone calls

Cleveland Browns

The Browns are in need of a receiver and have shown interest in Dez Bryant. He hasn’t returned their calls, however, which may send them looking elsewhere.

It has been almost four months since Dez Bryant was released by the Dallas Cowboys and he still does not have a job. There have been a handful of teams interested since his release, with the most recent suitor being the Cleveland Browns.

After trading Corey Coleman to the Bills, Cleveland needs a third receiver behind Jarvis Landry and Josh Gordon. The Browns have shown interest in Bryant, and general manager John Dorsey would like to bring him in next week. Dorsey has called Bryant but has not been able to get ahold of him.

Bryant responded to the report on Twitter, saying he is not going to rush into a decision but is not opposed to playing for the Browns.

Bryant followed that up, saying that past injuries have influenced this decision and that he wants to return only when he’s back at 100 percent.

There is a chance that Bryant will regret waiting if the Browns find another receiver, but it would be smart to heal up if he is hurt. As training camp continues forward and preseason games are played, injuries will happen. Bryant isn’t what he used to be but he certainly leads the group of available pass-catchers. Other teams may be looking his way in the coming weeks.

As for the Brows, looking elsewhere for now wouldn’t be a bad idea. Rosters aren’t set in the preseason; they can always wrap back around to Bryant. But while he sits at home letting his phone ring, Dorsey can call some players that will gladly pick up.
