Should Chiefs fans worry about Kareem Hunt?

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs have a young star in Kareem Hunt, but he’s been finding himself in ugly situations this offseason. Time to worry?

On Wednesday morning, TMZ reported that Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt was involved in an altercation in Ohio over the weekend. According to the report, Hunt punched a man in the face at Put In Bay, a resort on Lake Erie.

Charges were not filed and are not expected to be, as nobody was significantly harmed. Still, this is the second time Hunt has been in hot water this offseason. Back in February, Hunt had a complaint filed against him by a woman who claimed he shoved and pushed her. No arrests were made, and Hunt also filed a complaint against the woman for assault.

While it doesn’t appear that legal action will be taken in either case, Hunt’s alleged behavior has to be concerning for Kansas City. The second-year back is coming off a phenomenal rookie season which saw him lead the league in rushing yards with 1,327 on 4.9 yards per carry. However, the 22-year-old is now in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

At this juncture, the two reported incidents are cause for concern. Chiefs fans have to be wondering whether Hunt has been in the wrong place at the wrong time, or if his alleged involvement is a troubling pattern.

With OTAs in full swing and mandatory minicamp coming up later in June, Hunt might find himself in a meeting with owner Clark Hunt, coach Andy Reid and/or general manager Brett Veach. The Chiefs can’t afford to go without their star running back, especially considering the sea of change they’ve undergone this winter.
